Preparing the TeamWork server computer

To prepare the TeamWork application server computer to deploy upgrades automatically to client computers:

  1. Copy the TeamWork setup files to the BC-TeamWork Extensions folder (or a subfolder to separate the hotfix files from the other contents of the folder) on the TeamWork application server.In TeamWork installations, the share is named AMTWEXT$.
  2. Create a new text file named AMUpdate.ini in the BC-TeamWork Extensions folder itself, not in the subfolder where you copied the files.
  3. Add the following lines to the file with any text editor:
[AutoManager Meridian]
<UpgradeName>=<UpgradeExecutable>

The text for UpgradeName can be anything you want. We recommend that you use a name that describes the upgrade this is being installed, such as BCTeamWork2010. The text for UpgradeExecutable is the name of the upgrade executable to Start.

If you copied the upgrade files to a subfolder of the BC-TeamWork Extensions folder, include its name in a relative path to the setup executable. For example, if the upgrade files are located in the folder C:\BC-TeamWork Extensions\2010 Setup, using the example upgrade name above would result in the line BCTeamWork2010 =2010  Setup\setup.exe.

Tip    This procedure will run the TeamWork setup program in interactive mode, during which the program will detect the existing version of the TeamWork software and prompt the user to confirm that they want to install the upgrade. Additional prompts may also appear, such as a prompt for the user to reboot the computer if a reboot is necessary after installation. The upgrade may also be run in silent mode by combining the technique described in Upgrading TeamWork client computers automatically with this procedure. That is, by adding the -s switch to the end of the executable command line as in the following example:

BCTeamWork2010=setup.exe –s
